Hi Everyone!
I just returned from Slovakia where I played an exhibition with Thomas Muster, Dominika Cibulkova and Dominik Hrbaty.
It was a quick trip but well worth it. Immediately after landing it was directly to work. First up was a press conference with all of the players at the hotel. The media turnout was great. Then it was off to an autograph signing and 'fun court' appearance at the local shopping center. They set up a miniature tennis court (just like the quick start courts in America) and we each had a chance to play with a couple of kids from the crowd. It was a lot of fun to be able to interact with some of the people who came out. From there it was back to the hotel to grab a quick bite to eat then right to bed for my early start on Tuesday!
On Tuesday my day started off with several media interviews at the hotel and then an in studio appearance at Markiza TV on The Adela Show. I had such a good time on the show!! Adela was so sweet and she made me feel so welcome, I felt like I was just chatting with a friend on the couch at home. Right from there I did a radio interview with Adela and Sajfa for their morning show on FUN Radio. I already felt so comfortable with her, it was like a continuation of our on camera conversation. After that I went over to the Tennis Center for a clinic with about 50 kids. It was great to see some of the young talent in Bratislava. There were several in the group that were really good! Meeting and interacting with all of the locals kids is always my favorite part of these events! With just enough time to eat dinner and freshen up it was back to the courts for our match. I played mixed with Thomas against Dominik and Dominika. We all had such a blast on the court. Thomas was my partner when I was in Halle in June of this year so it felt just like old times! He can be such a clown which makes it so great to be on court with him! I also really enjoyed meeting Dominika, she is so cool, we had a lot fun hanging out in the locker room (checkout our pics). The venue was packed and the crowd was so into the match which gave us so much energy. It’s exactly what I needed because the jet lag started to kick in! To top of a great night on the court Thomas and I won and the event raised over €5,0000 for Detska Fakultna Nemocnica, a local children's hospital!!!
Bratislava was a wonderful place to visit and play tennis! I can't wait to go back! |
