A Busy Week
November 11, 2010

Hi Everyone!

Wow this past week was super busy filled with events and interviews.

On Thursday I did an interview with a crew that flew in from Slovakia. Everything they shot will be used as promotional material for my upcoming appearance in Bratislava on November 22nd. We spent about an hour at a park near my house in Miami together. I answered different questions for television shows, print media and radio. We were very lucky to be able to shoot outside because the weather was not scheduled to be very good. In fact as soon as we finished it started to rain and continued to rain all day. I am really looking forward to going to Slovakia to play and hope some of you will be able to make it out if you are in the area.

Thursday night I attended the opening of the JW Marriott Marquis hotel in downtown Miami. I was there to help promote the opening of their state of the art sports and entertainment complex. The facility was amazing, it is on two floors of the hotel and has a basketball arena, pool, golf school with virtual simulators and putting greens, fitness center, bowling alley and the best part was there is also a full size tennis court! It was unbelievable and I cannot wait to play there! I had a really good time checking everything out and trying my hand at all the great sports amenities the complex had to offer.

On Saturday I attended the 4th Annual Wild About Kids Gala benefitting the Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade. I was honored to be there to accept an award for my work as an ambassador and donor for the clubs. It was amazing to meet all of the local supporters and people who help keep that club up and running. It was also great to have my grandma, dad and close friends there to share the moment with. During the program there was also a very special performance by a young group of girls from the club known as the All Star Dance Team, they danced to Beyonce's Halo. Although there were a few technical problems with the sound the girls were amazing, so talented and were just one example of the kind of programs provided at the club. Their performance really made my night! It was such an honor to be recognized by the club. All of the kids make me so happy and I enjoy working with them more than anything, the feeling of knowing that you are making a difference in someone’s life, especially a child is indescribable and I hope to continue my work with them for many years to come!

Then on Sunday I drove up to Delray Beach for the Chris Evert Pro-Celebrity Tennis Classic. This was my second time participating in Chrissie's event, the first was in 2006. It is such a great event and she has not only raised visibility for the ongoing fight against drug abuse and child neglect in Florida but also over 18 million dollars. I played in a mixed doubles match with Gavin Rossdale against Chris and Scott Foley. Gavin and I have played together before and I always have a lot of fun on the court with him. It was also really cool that my little brother and mom came to watch and Allan even got to sit on the court with me. I have to say one of the best parts of the match was the umpiring skills of John Lovitz! He is just so funny and it really got the crowd going. In the end Gavin and I won! So it was a great ending to a very busy week.

Have a little time at home before I leave for Smash Hits in DC. Hope to see some of you there!
